* Bachelor of economic and social policy (Fopes) (dissertation at the UCL : "Identité culturelle à Bruxelles, quelle médiation associative?")

Vocational activities

* Medico-social function in crèches and within the medical school inspection in working-class districts (1979-1980)
* Teacher in professional education in Brussels (1981-1989)
* Co-ordination of the ZEP project ('Zone d'Education Prioritaire') in Anderlecht and setting up local associative projects within the context of the social development of districts (1989-1992)
* Took part in various European exchange programmes

Political activities

* Member of the ECOLO party since 1989 (local group of Schaerbeek)
* Member of the editorial committee of the monthly magazine "ECOLO en Action" (until 1994)
* Attaché of the ECOLO parliamentary group at the Regional Council of Brussels (1992-1994)
* Federal secretary and spokeswoman of ECOLO-AGALEV (1994-1999)
* Member of the federal Office of ECOLO-AGALEV (1995-1999)
* Co-ordinator of the States General of political Ecology (EGEP – Etats généraux de l'Ecologie politique), a process of dialogue with the civilian society initiated by Ecolo in 1996.
