the one-world project

introduction

Global network of Green parties, platforms and organisations
- The one-world-project -

The internet opens a completely new dimension of connections, linking people, cultures and countries. We want to discuss the possibilities, to create an activ global network. A network for discussions and campaigns.
We want to discuss the medium-term goal and the long-term goal. We want to think about the possibilities to finance such a network.
If you like to join our working group, please contact us in advance. Please read the aims of this workshop and let us know, what you think about this project. If you have further ideas to create such a network, please write us.

position

Global network of Green parties, platforms and organisations
- the one-world-project -

The Internet opens a completely new dimension of connections, linking people, cultures and countries. We want to use the possibilities of an active global network for discussions and campaigns.

It's people who shape the future on this planet.
Globally - together - now!
While the democracies of Europe still debate the new constitution of the European Union, the large multinational corporations have long been organized worldwide.
Generally a lot of them have bigger budgets than most countries.
With globalisation, the influence of single decision-makers in the executive ranks of multinational corporations has become increasingly more powerful. At the same time the formation of oligopolies and monopolies within the private sector is increasing.
These alignments require the building of a strong civil counterbalance.
The medium-term goal of the One-World-Project is to form a global democratic green network that will fight for:
- Worldwide peace
- Worldwide recognition of human rights
- Social justice
- Equal rights for men and women, gays and lesbians
- The worldwide protection of the natural environment.
The long-term goal of the One-World-Project is the formation of a democratic citizen forum. The rights, duties, freedoms and restrictions of human behaviour, and the fundamental constitution of this world must be decided from an institution founded on the principles of democracy.
We must not leave this task to the large multinational companies that make their own rules and regulations.
Time is of the essence. We must act, and move ahead with conviction.
The Internet opens a completely new dimension of connections, linking people, cultures and countries. We will take full advantage of this tool.
In the first phase, people from all countries of this world will join together.
Using the Internet we will promote the Charter of the Global Greens from Canberra 2001.
There should be Internet forums and on-line opinion polls concerning political issues that are of global interest initiating an spreading global campaigns. We should have links with NGOs and coordinate and influence international meetings or summits.
It is necessary not to forget people who do not have access to Internet because of lag of democracy, lag of gender balance and illiteracy or lag of electricity and economic resources.
Even when only 1000 people from each of 190 different countries of this world make demands to the political leaders of the G8 countries or to the WTO or towards a dictator, underlying powers are set free.
Never before has the coming together of so many people, from diverse parts of the world, been possible in such a short time, and with such ease.
Just imagine the possibilities as more and more people join the-one-world-project ...
